Welcome to the k. thompson photography blog! I’m Kelsey Thompson, a documentary-style wedding photographer in the Washington, DC metro area. I work and reside in Alexandria, Virginia with my two cute and crazy dogs and my husband (also cute and crazy). This photography blog will be the best place for you to view images from my recent weddings and portrait sessions. It’s also where I’ll announce new products and share my thoughts about weddings, photography, and the amazing couples that I feel so lucky to work with year-round!

Jess and Brett: Engagement in Georgetown
I had a great time doing an engagement shoot this past week with Jess and Brett, who will be getting married this fall. We got so lucky and the rain stopped just in time for the shoot. And I am so glad it did because I really enjoyed my time with Jess and Brett. They were such a sweet couple and I wish them the best!

A lovely model
We did this session in a beautiful botanic garden in Maryland. It just happened to be one of the only sunny days we have gotten around here lately. Someone please remind me to wear suncreen next time!

Kristen and Dom
I had such a fun engagement session with Kristen and Dom yesterday! The weather was absolutely perfect and we had a great time. They even brought me some delicious cupcakes! But those are long gone by now. :)

Central Park at noon
We had such a great time shooting in Central Park! There are just so many wonderful locations there. And Kym is just a complete natural at this!

A trip to NYC
My fiance and I went to NYC this past weekend for a wedding. On our way back to the hotel we stopped by Rockefeller Center. It was surprisingly quiet late at night and I just had to pull my camera out for a few shots.

Out and about in Old Town
I just wanted to share some photos that I took when walking around Old Town Alexandria this past week. The buds and flowers are really popping out on the trees. There is still quite a chill in the air, but my mom was visiting and I wanted to take her around the city. Hope you enjoy these images!
